History

In 1985, Guido Droste started an electrotechnical repair company for the shipping sector. Three years later, Erik Goosens joined the company. Since 1994 they have formed the management. Guido Droste is the commercial director and Erik Goosens is the technical director.

Over the course of the years our company has become increasingly focused on shipbuilding. During the past twenty years we have installed electrical systems in virtually every imaginable type of ship. In addition, we have grown to become a partner that helps clients consider every option and provides wide-ranging advice over every aspect that may have to do with ships' electrical systems. Through the years, data communications, antenna applications, telephone systems, sound systems, and alarms systems for fire, security and other monitored conditions have been added to the range of systems we service and install.

Since the early 90s, diverse shipbuilding projects have been undertaken. We began with the electrical systems for the new construction of a daytime passenger ship (MS Solar). From there we progressed to more complex projects: cruise ships. In past years Droste has outfitted more than fifty passenger, inland ships with a complete electrical installation including every on-board system connected by wires.

 Since 2000, Droste Elektro has also been active in overseas shipping. We began with an order for six diesel-electric driven suppliers that were to be constructed in the United States. After this we accomplished more off shore vessels for different clients.  For a more detailed description of these and other projects, see Projects on the Ships' electrical systems page.

Besides the shipping industry, Droste Elektro is also active in providing shoreside installation services. When the former local installer in Lobith decided to leave the business, Droste Elektro took over the company and integrated it into the overall operations.
